Robert L. Carmody age 93, of Winter Park, Florida passed away December 23, 2018. He was born February 1, 1925 in Owosso, Michigan. Mr. Carmody served his country proudly with the United States Navy in the South Pacific on USS Mobile during World War II. After serving six years he received his GI Bill and began his education at Utah State University, then received his bachelors degree at Michigan State University. He came to Florida in 1965 and attended Rollins College obtaining his masters in education, and ultimately his doctorate from Florida State University. Mr. Carmody was employed in the aerospace industry for approximately 15 years, and went onto Valencia College where he started the technology department; prior to his retirement he was the Department Chairman. Robert was predeceased by his wife Julie M. Carmody in 2011, and his sister Virginia Diebolt. He is survived by his children Kevin (Susan) Carmody, Kathleen Carmody, his brother Donald Carmody, two grandchildren Matthew Carmody, and Andrew (Kara) Carmody; one great granddaughter Sienna Carmody. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Saint Margaret Mary Catholic Church 526 N. Park Ave. Winter Park, Fl., 32789 at 10:00 AM with Father Richard Walsh officiating. Interment will follow at Palm Cemetery.
