Gale Owen Creighton

Gale Owen Creighton of Oviedo, Florida passed away on February 14, 2019.  He was originally from Warsaw, Indiana and a life-long partner and employee of Creighton Brothers, a ‘family farm & poultry complex’.

He was born April 9, 1927 in Warsaw to Russell Franklin Creighton and Gaynell (Horn) Creighton.  After the early passing of his mother, he was raised by his father and step-mother Helen Hose Creighton.  On January 28, 1948 he married Betty Bright who passed away in August, 1990.  He married Lois (Honald) seventeen years ago, who survives.

Gale joined the Navy just prior to turning 18 years and served at the end of World War II.  He attended Indiana Central College, now Indianapolis University, and graduated from Bowling Green State University,1950, in Ohio.   Gale’s work career included that as General Manager of Creighton Brothers Feed Mill from its beginning in 1954 until his retirement in 1993. He then served on the Creighton Brothers Board.

Gale served two terms on the newly formed Board of the Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation.   Also, he served 4 years on the newly formed Board of the Kosciusko County Area Plan Commission.  He was Chairman of the Feed Committee of Indiana State Grain and Feed Dealers Association.

Gale remained active in the Lutheran Church.  He was fortunate to travel extensively once into retirement: 2 trips to Alaska via the West Coastal waters; 2 trips to Hawaii; 7 European trips and 4 were with church friendships and wife, Lois. He wished to express  he is “thankful to know that my best trip ever is just completed and I can enjoy what’s ahead in Life Eternal”.

Husband and ‘dad’s memory lives in the hearts of Lois Creighton, wife (Oviedo, Florida); three daughters: Sara Beth (Port Orange, FL.); Laura Jo (husband Denny) Oros (Freeport, Florida); Cathy Creighton Martin (Bossier City, La.) and two sons:  Rusty (wife Caroljo) Creighton (Orange Park, Florida); Jon Marc (wife Lisa) Creighton (Port Orange, Florida).

“Papa” will be lovingly remembered by grandchildren:  Christian Ransopher (LA, CA); Ashley (husband Mike) Putnam (Charleston, SC); Jo Dawn (husband Stephen) Brown (Texas.); Stephen Creighton, (Charleston, SC); Andrew Creighton ,wife Courtney(Tampa ,FL);  Mitchell Martin (Cincinnati, OH); Melissa Martin (Shreveport, LA); Michael Creighton, wife Caitie (Conn); Emily Creighton (Conn); Katie Williams, husband Geoff (Edgewater, Fl.); Heather Schuller (Port Orange, Fl).  The great-grandchildren are Liam, Anna Sophia, Cierra, Catherine Brown; Hailey, Hayes & Hunter Putnam; Landon & Liam Creighton; and Grayson Williams.

Gale is survived by a sister, Marilyn Dorsey (Columbia City, IN) and brother, Bob Creighton (Nashville, In).  He was preceded in death by his siblings Dorothy Snyder Darsey (Warsaw, In), Evelyn Tinkey (Warsaw, In) and David Creighton (Warsaw, In).

Gale also leaves families through his marriage to Lois:  the Pam & Steve Grimes family; the Joan & John Paciga family and the Paul & Nancy Honald family.

A Memorial Service for Mr. Creighton will be held at St. Lukes Lutheran Church at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 23, 2019.
